Since 2013, my life has been on an incredible journey-one that began when a mentor asked me to assist an old friend in creating a music studio program for D.C. youth. What started as a simple request turned into a life-changing, three-year adventure that shaped not only my career but my soul. This isn't your average cover letter because this wasn't an average experience. Over those years, I built lifelong friendships, helped young people search for jobs, and guided aspiring artists as they recorded their first tracks. But more than that, I witnessed transformation. We Focused on What Unites Us: Life. In a time when the nation wrestled with whose lives mattered most, over 100 young people crossed my path: - Black lives and Latino lives - Christian, Muslim, and agnostic lives - Straight lives and LGBTQ+ lives - Homeless lives - State-committed lives and community lives We chose to look past the differences and focus on the one thing we all share-Life. The result? Course-changing experiences. - Some discovered who they were. - Others declared who they would become. - And together, we created music that resonated with every heartbeat in the room. We opened doors, provided mentorship, and sparked hope. Teaching Resilience, One Beat at a Time As a consultant, I curated the state-of-the-art recording equipment for the Achievement Center-ensuring young people had the tools to shape their sound and their future. When we faced construction setbacks, my students and I didn't quit. We built the desk, padded the booth, and turned obstacles into lessons. We proved that when life says "no," resilience says "watch me." A Decade of Sound and Impact Beyond consulting, I've worked with incredible organizations like The Arts Experience and East of the River, while honing my craft as a freelance sound and recording engineer across the Mid-Atlantic for over 10 years.
